Despite living in East Herts for over a
decade, last week saw my first visit to Ware Lido. What a great place!
The Lido is celebrating its 80th
anniversary this year and is one of the last open-air pools in the area. There
are two pools – the main one is around 30 metres long, while there is a smaller
kids’ pool, too. Importantly for anyone who – like me – isn’t a fan of cold
water, both are heated to 80 degree F.
Admission costs are attractive too. Adults
are charged at £4.20 and kids under 16 at £2.10. And there’s plenty of space to
pitch up with a picnic, so you could easily spend the good part of the day
there. Plus there are some special deals available for families, plus season
tickets.
The Lido is open until August 31st,
so make sure you visit before then, or you’ll be waiting until next July till
you can go.
I’ll definitely be taking my son again
before the end of summer. Not so sure about the early morning swim sessions
that are advertised at the venue – there must be some brave (crazy) souls in
Ware…
Ware Priory Lido can be found at Priory
Street, Ware SG12 9AL. It’s a very short walk from the town centre and car
parks.
